The trail is very scenic and offers hikers a chance to immerse themselves in a world of waterfalls, caves, and the serene ambiance of the forest. You can only see this one from afar. It is a huge waterfall, there is a nice viewing platform from which you can take great pictures. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 49%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>\n\nThe second waterfall is the <strong>Motian Waterfall<\/strong>. There too there is a wooden viewing platform which offers a great view of the waterfall.&nbsp;\n\n<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/sandiaoling-motian-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-701 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/sandiaoling-motian-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/sandiaoling-motian-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/sandiaoling-motian-1.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if you feel more adventurous, you can get almost behind the waterfall.  For this you need to take the little hidden path off the trail. You have to turn right onto the concrete path and take the <strong>Chialiao Historic Trail<\/strong> (follow the signs). This trail is 6 km long and will get you to Houtong- the famous Cat village, from where you can take the train back to Taipei.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the concrete path you can also turn left and get to Dahua Train station (in about 20 min) to take the train back to Taipei<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/sandiaoling-wood-ladder-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-708\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/sandiaoling-wood-ladder-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/sandiaoling-wood-ladder-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/sandiaoling-wood-ladder.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Some staircase towards the end of the Trail<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From the train station, rather than directly going to Taipei you can stop by <strong>Shifen<\/strong> to see this l huge waterfall or by<strong> Pingxi<\/strong> to release a sky lantern or hang out at a cool waterfall like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/lingjiao-waterfall\/\">Lingjiao<\/a><\/strong> if you are not yet fed up with waterfalls \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DIFFICULTY?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This hike is fairly easy (\u2156) as it is leveled out and does not require special abilities. Think of bringing good non slippery shoes that can get wet just in case.
