We had heard it was a nice spot to see Sea Turtles! And we were not disappointed!<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WHAT TO EXPECT:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xiaoliuqiu is a tiny island of 6.8 km2 (2.6 sq mi) and it is the perfect place to get this island vibe, relax, and disconnect from the busy Taipei life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to swim with BIG sea turtles you will not be disappointed! \u00a0You can get really close! Take nice pictures if you have a waterproof camera but please be respectful and do not touch those poor turtles! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nice spots to snorkel:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/MtYzUxttUqK2\">The Vase Rock<\/a>(but as we were there on a Taiwanese holiday it was a bit too crowded for us)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At a <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/chLAie17VXL2\">beach<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or at <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/MZxeo6vu5m92\">Gebanwan<\/a> (another bigger beach)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-433 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.myroomabroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_20190301_172345-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"beach\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_20190301_172345-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_20190301_172345-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>**(sorry for the quality of the pictures :s we didn&#8217;t have a good camera with us )<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next to the main attraction on the Island (the sea turtles :)) there are a few spots that are nice to see, like the Lobster cave, the Black Dwarf cave, some pavilions with nice views (for sunrise, sunset, to see the sea).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-432 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.myroomabroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_20190301_161225-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"sea view\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_20190301_161225-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_20190301_161225-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/IMG_20190301_161225-1024x576.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can do the round tour of the Island in less than one day (we did it in about 45 min but didn\u2019t really stop for the view points).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At night, everything happens around the main street close to the harbor! There are plenty of restaurants and bars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We went to an all-you-can- eat \u201cseafood\u201d barbecue restaurant. The concept is nice. You have a charcoal barbecue in the middle of your table, you go get your food to grill in the fridges and grill it at your table. You have a lot a of seafood (shrimp, clams, oysters, squid,..), but also chicken, beef, pork and plenty of vegetable to grill. We paid 380 NTD per person and drinks were not included.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-429 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.myroomabroad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/53623346_561106381050603_3319905515311464448_n-300x162.png\" alt=\"Charcoal barbecue on a table with food grilling\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/53623346_561106381050603_3319905515311464448_n-300x162.png 300w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/53623346_561106381050603_3319905515311464448_n-768x415.png 768w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/53623346_561106381050603_3319905515311464448_n-1024x554.png 1024w, https:\/\/myroomabroad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/53623346_561106381050603_3319905515311464448_n.png 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LOCATION:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Pingtung County, in the Liuqiu township: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/vrLqmSy8rLC2\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/vrLqmSy8rLC2<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HOW TO GET THERE:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From Taipei:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By Public transport: Take the High Speed Rail \u00a0(or the bus but it will be LOOOONG) to Kaohsiung then the TSHR or the bus to Kaohsiung Harbor<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By Car: with your own vehicle take the Highway 3 then Highway 1 to Kaohsiung. However I would not recommend going with your own car as cars are not allowed iin the Island, you have to park your car near the kaohsiung Harbor. If the main parking is full, you need to wait that cars get out before you can get in, so you might need to queue for a few hours before you are able to park your car. There are other parkings that cost up to 300 NTD per night<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So if you want to go by car better hitch hike. It more fun anyway \ud83d\ude1b<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then from Kaohsiung Harbor, take the ferry to the Island (20 min boat) and a return ticket costs 410 NTD<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HOW TO GET AROUND:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recommend renting a scooter for the day (we got one at 400 NTD for 24h). It the nicest way to get around.
